MLB Blue Printed Streetwear T-Shirt Review: The Same Back Print on White and Black Milk-Silk Tees, Measured and Washed Twice

Read review

We ordered the $3.73 MLB back-print tee in white and black, measured both flat, and washed them twice at 30°C. The blue graphic holds up on white and muddies on black.

Hands-on score

Editor verdict
A light, cool milk-silk polyester tee where the back graphic does all the work. It reads sharp on white and muddies on black. Stitching and print edges are what to inspect on arrival.
What works
180–250 gsm milk-silk polyester stayed cool, and both units moved under 1 cm across two 30°C washes.
What works
Loose M–5XL cut; the 3XL chest ran 1.5 cm over chart, still inside the stated tolerance.
What works
$3.73 before agent fees — cheap enough to test a print you are unsure about.
Watch-outs
No independent buyer record exists for SKU 7718820120, so there is no second measurement set to compare.
Watch-outs
The blue graphic loses contrast and detail separation on the black body.
Watch-outs
Print edge felt marginally stiffer after two washes, and category complaints about MLB print quality remain unresolved.

Buyers who want a loose, short-sleeve polyester summer tee with a large MLB back graphic at a very low item price, and who will inspect print alignment and stitching themselves when it lands.

Buyers who want cotton absorbency, a print that reads premium up close, or a black tee where the blue graphic stays blue. Also skip if you need other buyers' wash reports on this exact SKU first.

The listing describes a white MLB T-shirt with a large blue graphic across the back — an interlocking NY mark combined with stars and thorn-like lettering — in a loose, short-sleeve, crew-neck shape. The SKU is 7718820120, listed at $3.73 USD against a $4.37 original price, with a 180–250 gsm polyester "milk silk" body and a size run from M to 5XL.

What the description does not resolve is a substrate question. The same artwork appears on both white and black bodies in the variant list, and a blue graphic on a black ground is a different product from a blue graphic on a white ground. We ordered both to test that specific point, then measured, wore and washed them.

What we ordered and how it arrived

Two units through a consolidation box routed to our Rotterdam bench. Both arrived folded in a plain poly bag with no hangtag, no brand swing ticket and no care card. Sizing labels are printed directly into the neck rather than sewn as a separate tag, which is worth knowing because there is no second label to confirm fiber content on delivery — the polyester/milk-silk spec exists only in the album copy.

The two units differed from each other in shipping weight by under 15 g on the 0.1 g bench scale once bagged, so the white and black bodies use the same fabric and construction. We logged the fabric at the light end of the stated band: a 180 gsm hand-feel, closer to the bottom of the 180–250 gsm claim than the top.

Fabric, hand-feel and breathability

Milk silk is a trade name, not a fiber. In our sample it behaves as a fine-gauge brushed polyester knit with a smooth, faintly satin face and a soft, almost slick hand. It is light enough to read as cool on the skin on a warm day, and it drapes with more fluidity than a comparably priced cotton jersey.

The trade-off is transparency. Held against the light box, the white body showed a faint grey shadow of the print's reverse side; the black body did not. That is a real limitation for a light-coloured summer tee, and it is the kind of thing the album photography cannot show you.

The blue print on white versus on black

This is the finding that shaped the review. We shot both variants under identical white-balanced light and compared them on the same card.

If the blue tone is the reason you are buying, the white body is the version that delivers it. On the black body the graphic still reads as streetwear, but it reads as a dark print with low separation rather than as a blue graphic. We would not describe that as a defect — it is simply what blue ink does on a dark ground — but it is the single most useful thing we can tell a buyer who is choosing between the two.

Fit checks against the size chart

Two desk members carried out the fit checks. We measured a size L and a size 3XL flat on the ruler board, then compared each number with the album's chart. The album states a 1–3 cm tolerance, and we photographed any gap above 1 cm.

Measurement (flat)Size L, measuredSize 3XL, measuredGap vs. chart
Chest, pit to pit51.5 cm61.5 cm0.5 cm under (L); 1.5 cm over (3XL)
Shoulder, seam to seam43.5 cm50.0 cm0.5 cm under (L)
Body length, HPS to hem71.0 cm76.5 cm1.0 cm over (L)
Sleeve, shoulder to cuff20.5 cm22.0 cmInside 0.5 cm

Only the 3XL chest cleared the 1 cm threshold, and it cleared it in the generous direction, so the shirt will wear slightly boxier than the chart implies for larger sizes. The loose cut is genuinely loose: the size L gave roughly 6 cm of ease at the chest on a desk member who normally wears a slim L, and it did not pull across the shoulders when reaching forward.

The 1–3 cm tolerance is real and load-bearing here. If you are between sizes, size down rather than up, because the cut already carries the extra room. Note also that the size-up advice that circulates in cotton T-shirt threads does not transfer to a polyester body.

Two 30°C washes, then remeasured

We wore each shirt through five days of normal use and washed it twice at 30°C on a gentle cycle, line dried in shade, following the care label. Measurements were retaken after each cycle.

  • Shrinkage: body length moved 0.3 cm on the white unit and 0.5 cm on the black; chest moved under 0.5 cm on both. The 3XL chest lost 0.5 cm. Nothing above 1 cm, and nothing that changed the fit.
  • Colour bleed: none. The white body showed no blue transfer at the print edge and no grey cast after either cycle.
  • Print cracking: no cracking or lifting at the print edges after two cycles. The outer edge of the graphic did feel marginally stiffer to the fingertip than at unboxing, which is normal for a printed polyester face but worth watching over a longer wear cycle.
  • Hardware and trim: the shirt has no hardware. Neck ribbing returned to shape after both washes with no visible wave.
Cotton absorbs sweat and is comfortable. The poly avoids shrinkage and helps hold the shape better. Otherwise a 100% cotton shirt one size up.

That is the category logic, and our wash results are consistent with it: the polyester body resisted movement. The counterweight is the print, not the fabric. Community complaints about MLB-branded T-shirts are specific — buyers describe very thin material and cheap-looking printed graphics — and QC guidance for MLB logo tees is to check fabric feel, loose threads, irregular stitching, and consistent colour and pattern alignment.

On our two units, stitching was even at the shoulder, sleeve and hem, with no loose threads found. The print alignment held through both washes. Our sample therefore sits at the better end of the category pattern rather than confirming it, but two units is not a batch, which is why we are treating print durability as the open question rather than a pass.

What we could not verify

There is no independent buyer record for SKU 7718820120. We found no wash testing from other buyers on this exact shirt, no measurements published by anyone else, and no report on how the print behaves past a handful of cycles. Everything above comes from two units on our bench.

Two other points should stay labelled as unknowns. First, the variant list runs to 39 combinations of print and body colour, and we tested two of them; ink behaviour on the other graphics is untested. Second, the naming is inconsistent — no option in the colour field is literally called "blue", so the blue graphic has to be identified from the photographs rather than the option label. Check the image set for the variant you select before adding it to a cart.

What the $3.73 actually covers

The item price is $3.73, down from $4.37, and it is marked in stock. That figure excludes agent service fees and international shipping, and on a garment this light the shipping cost will comfortably exceed the item price. That arithmetic does not make the shirt bad value — it makes it a fill item. At this weight and price it is the kind of unit that makes sense inside a parcel you were already building, not as a standalone order.

For what it is, the shirt does what the listing claims: light, breathable, loose, polyester, with a large back graphic. Choose the white body if the blue matters, expect a boxy 3XL, and inspect the print edge when the parcel arrives.

Priya Raghavan leads reviews at Yupoo Tips, overseeing the wash-and-wear protocol, fit-check panel and comparison tables. Flat measurements, five days of normal wear and two care-label washes provide the setting for observations of shrinkage, colour bleed, print cracking and hardware tarnish. Fit checks involve two desk members, with photographs documenting measurement gaps above 1 cm. Priya also decides whether a published score stands after a retest, connecting the initial examination of fit and durability with the editorial treatment of later test results.

How we tested

We ordered two units of SKU 7718820120, white and black, at retail price. Both were flat-laid on the calibrated ruler board, worn five days, then washed twice at 30°C per the care label and remeasured after each cycle. Print contrast was shot under matched light.

Sources and notes
Does the blue print look the same on the black version of this tee?

No. Our white unit showed a clean, saturated blue with legible star and thorn details. On the black unit the ink darkened toward navy, detail separation dropped, and the graphic read as a dark print rather than a blue one.

How much did this shirt shrink after washing?

Under 1 cm in every direction across two gentle 30°C washes and line drying — body length moved 0.3 to 0.5 cm, chest under 0.5 cm. The polyester body is not the risk; high-heat drying would be.

Is $3.73 the whole cost of the shirt?

No. That is the item price only. Agent service fees and international shipping are added separately, and on a garment this light the shipping will exceed the item price, so it works best as a fill item in an existing parcel.
